Arraial do Cabo it is a region privileged by its unique and exuberant nature, where the sea is enriched by the upwelling phenomenon, that is, the surfacing of the ACAS marine current, coming from Antarctica, cold and rich in nutrients, fertilizes the sea of the region, providing abundant fishing, clear and transparent waters and the arrival of illustrious visitors such as penguins, whales and sea lions.
Arraial do Cabo it features other natural attractions such as the largest permanently hypersaline lagoon in the world, the Araruama Lagoon, whose salinity is twice that of the sea; and the meeting of the waters coming from the North with the waters emerging from the South, which can be clearly observed for most of the year, provided by changes in the winds.
Next to our accommodation are "Sambaquis" (shell mounds) and the "Fishermen's Lookout," where artisanal fishermen use fishing methods based on the remnants of these mounds in their daily lives. They observe schools of fish and, through communicative gestures, inform others of their arrival, type, quantity, and direction. These schools are the true fish. “Sentinelas do Mar”.
Today, Arraial do Cabo is a conservation unit, categorized as a Marine Extractive Reserve, due to its artisanal and sustainable traditional fishing methods. There is a management plan in place for the use of natural resources in all activities, whether professional, amateur, or sport fishing, tourism, diving, etc.
